Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps, helps low-income households buy the food they need for good health. Everyone has the right to apply for SNAP. Individuals approved for SNAP will receive an EBT Card (electronic benefits transfer card) called an “Independence Card” that is accepted at most grocery stores. There are restrictions on the types of items that can be purchased with an Independence Card.

Eligibility is based upon your monthly income and the size of the family you are supporting. For more information eligibility and applying for SNAP benefits, please click here:
