We are excited that you are interested in volunteering with CEA! Our tradition of Neighbors Helping Neighbors is only possible through the commitment of our dedicated volunteers.
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and our volunteers donate hundreds of hours each year to help our neighbors in need. Since we began in 1984, we’ve relied on volunteers to keep our operation running. The commitment can be small – a few hours a month, and we will gladly train you. Volunteering at CEA is a great way to meet people, have fun, and help others.
Volunteers who work in the building weigh, sort, and shelve food as well as pack bags for clients. Because space inside CEA is tight, we are limited in the number of volunteers that can work in the building at one time.
However, we are interested in having volunteers assist with community events such as receiving food on our night at Frederick Road Fridays, walking with us in the Fourth of July parade, staffing our event table at the Catonsville Farmers Market and other events, and helping out for Christmas in July for example.
We also maintain a roster of volunteers that we call on for special occasions such as a Saturday food delivery or receiving food from a food drive, and to fill in during the summer when regular volunteers are on vacation.
